The passage “Haec subinde Constantius audiens et quaedam referente Thalassio doctus, quem eum odisse iam conpererat lege communi, scribens ad Caesarem blandius adiumenta paulatim illi subtraxit, sollicitari se simulans ne, uti est militare otium fere tumultuosum,” from a historical context, discusses the actions and decisions of Constantius in response to information he received and his perceptions about Thalassius. Here’s a rewritten version focusing on the context of respiratory tract management:
Great success of intubation master class

On August 27, the master class “Management of the respiratory tract” was held at the O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University. It was organized by the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of NMU and the Department of Surgery, Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of the IPO of NMU with the support of Johns Hopkins University (USA).
Before the start of the master class with lectures for anesthesiologists of medical institutions of Kyiv, the rector of NMU, professor of the department of surgery, anesthesiology and intensive care of IPO Yuriy Kuchyn (“Surgical methods of ensuring patency of the respiratory tract from the position of an anesthesiologist”), head of the department of anesthesiology and intensive care of therapy at NMU, professor Serhiy Dubrov (“Complications of tracheal intubation”), associate professor of the Department of Surgery, Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of the IPO Kateryna Belka (“Difficult airways. How to be prepared?”), assistant professor of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at Johns Hopkins University (USA) ) Oleg Turkot, an emergency medicine physician at Washington University, St. Louis, Kasia Hampton and the head of the Department of Intensive Care and Anesthesia No. 2, senior researcher at the Romodanov Institute of Neurosurgery Maksym Pylypenko.
The topic of airway management is inexhaustible and relevant, especially during wartime. The ability to restore and ensure the patency of the respiratory tract is a mandatory skill for medics in the conditions of military operations. And the anesthesiologist’s competence and knowledge of the methods of modern medical science, risk factors, anesthetic tactics, the ABCD action algorithm, clinical cases and RSI simulation save the patient’s life during surgery. His experience and qualifications are of exceptional importance.
After the theoretical part, training was held to practice the practical skills of inturbation of the trachea using video laryngoscopy techniques and was held at 6 stations. In addition to Maksym Pylypenko (Ukraine), Oleg Turkot and Kasia Hampton (USA), the classes were conducted by the head of the Pain Service (California, USA) Ronald White and assistants of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of NMU Maksym Denisyuk and Serhii Sereda.
According to many participants of the master class, both its theoretical and practical parts were very informative, useful and gave comprehensive answers to the problematic questions that arise in the work of a surgeon and anesthesiologist.
